Shipping Industry Recognised Education via TutorShip
Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) offers education in the field of ship brokerage and shipping through TutorShip. The education in the TutorShip program is web based. English course literature and supervisors are used.
Supervisors check the students have understood the content of the courses. Each course contains 10 chapters, after completing each chapter students send their coursework their supervisor. The answers will then be reviewed and returned with the mark and comments. The use of supervisors is strongly recommended.
The TutorShip programme is affiliated with “The Council for the Accreditation of Correspondence colleges”, which has high standards of quality and procedures.
The TutorShip program offers a total of 16 different courses, 5 of which are specifically targeted towards ship mediation. The other courses are broader and include law, shipping economy & International Trade, offshore, maritime insurance and intermodal transport and logistics.
This education is suited not only for new shipping company employees, brokers (or those who may think of being ship brokers), but for new employees in most of the maritime industry (banking, insurance, attorneys, etc.). Because education is web-based, one can choose when best to study. Apart from the exams, see exam timetable here, the whole education can therefore happen at home, at work or wherever one might desire.
There are three levels of qualification:

For a newbie to the shipping industry.
2. ADVANCED DIPLOMA

3. PROFESSIONAL QUALIFYING EXAM
